Information Technology

We are living in a technologically advanced world.  We need to empower our pupils with the necessary skills to keep up with such challenges.  To that end we follow our National Curriculum Programmes of Study in Information Technology.

We have for our use one computer in each of our Infant Classes and seventeen laptop computers which are used for timetabled lessons in the Junior Department.

Pupils will be taught to word-process, to use databases, to incorporate graphics, to use email and to use the internet as a source of information and a tool for learning.

We adhere to safety and child protection procedures:

Ø Our Internet Service Provider (ISP) is used and censored by our LEA and has ‘child only’ access.

Ø When using email, we ensure that pupils do not reveal their whole names or any personal information.  They will only be emailing people we know to be safe.

Ø Pupils will only use the computers in the presence of a member of staff.

Please help your child to be computer literate at home and please emphasise the safety aspects.
