Charity Work

Jesus says the in the Gospel (Matthew 25) – “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do it to me.”

We try to live the Gospel message by continuously teaching our pupils to care for people who are less fortunate than themselves.  On the last Friday of each month, we allow the children to wear home clothes for a fine of 20p.

Ø The parish Saint Vincent de Paul Society who help needy people in Maesteg.

Ø Youth to Lourdes fund at Archbishop McGrath – this helps some of our former pupils to travel to Lourdes to look after sick and disabled people for a week in their summer holidays.

Ø The Parish Restoration Fund – which is needed to restore our Parish Church.

Ø HCPT – The Pilgrimage Trust – which helps handicapped children have a much needed holiday in Lourdes at Easter each year.

Ø CAFOD (Catholic Association For Oversees Development) a Catholic Aid agency which helps people overseas who are in trouble (war, famine, etc)

Ø Ty Hafan – the children’s cancer hospital in Barry.

Ø The scanner appeal at the Princess of Wales Hospital.

Ø Any other worthwhile project which we agree upon.

Pupils will also bring home “Mission Together” boxes – these are for collecting loose change and need to be returned to Mrs Barlow.  The money is sent to the APF Missionary Society, who fund projects to help needy children overseas.
