Transition

Any time of transition may be a little daunting so we ensure that these processes are as smooth as possible and we do our best to allay all fears.

Pupils coming to school for the first time into our Nursery Class need very careful handling.  In the July before they enter we make sure we invite new pupils into school to look at their new surroundings and to meet the Staff.  We also hold a special Parents Evening so that you may also meet the Staff and be guided into our school practice and procedures.  We will ask you to fill in a form which will note any medical conditions so we can help both you and your child to feel comfortable.

Pupils transferring from Class 3 to Class 4 enter the Junior phase of their education.  They will have new procedures to get used to but we ensure that the process is done as gently as possible.  All pupils in the school have a transition day in July so they can meet their new teacher and get aquatinted with their new classroom.

Pupils in Class 7 move on to their Secondary Education at Archbishop McGrath Catholic Comprehensive at Aberkenfig.  A series of transition days is planned so that they get used to their new environment and their new teachers.  The teachers also visit our school and teach Class 7 in turn.  In July a special new entrants Mass is planned in the evening, where Archbishop Peter Smith celebrates a Mass of welcome with Fr David Smith and Fr Isaac.  It is a very exuberant occasion and we expect all of Class 7 and their parents to attend.
