Sickness

It is essential that you report any medical conditions (both serious or minor) to your class teacher.  If there is a long term medical condition you will need to tell every teacher at the beginning of each new school year.  Any instructions need to be written down.

In the event of your child being ill at school we will phone you so it is extremely important that we have all of your contact numbers.

All medication including astma pumps must be handed into Mrs Allan’s Office with a label of your child’s name on the front and a written list of the times when the medicine is required.

Asthma pumps may be used whenever they are required and we will ensure that they are carried to the swimming pool and on school trips by the teacher.  Please ensure you have a pump at home and one can be left at school, clearly labelled with your child’s name.

If your child has diabetes you must explain n his/her needs to the class teacher.  Please ensure the teacher has a packet of biscuits and a bottle of Lucozade which can be kept in the classroom for any emergency.
If your child has any allergic reactions we must be told.  If the allergy is food related please tell the class teacher and the cook.  If the allergy is serious and your child needs to use an epi-pen this will need to be kept in the office.  Several members of staff have been trained to use it.

Mrs Barlow is the designated teacher for Health & Safety.  All members of Staff have received First Aid Training.

In the event of any kind of accident at school you will receive an Accident Report informing you of the action we have taken and of any follow up you may need to take.

If your child is unwell it is essential that you either phone us on the first day of the absence, or write a note when he/she returns.  Any unexplained absences are noted as unauthorised and may result in a visit from the Educational Welfare Officer.
